Jerusalem Talmud Berakhot
Jerusalem Talmud Berakhot: the Gemara of the land of Israel on Mishnah Berakhot ("Blessings"), in the order Zera'im (Seeds). The reciting of the Shema, the daily Amidah prayer, and the blessings said over food and on other occasions; the one tractate of this order that is not about farming. The Jerusalem Talmud (Talmud Yerushalmi) was compiled in Galilee, chiefly at Tiberias, about AD 400; each halakhah quotes a passage of the Mishnah (MISHNAH) and then discusses it (HALAKHAH). It is rabbinic law and teaching, not scripture. English and Hebrew/Aramaic by Heinrich W. Guggenheimer; his footnotes are not reproduced. In the English, words in parentheses and square brackets are his deletions and additions; in the Hebrew, a reading in parentheses is the manuscript's, deleted, and the one in square brackets his correction.
