Jerusalem Talmud Megillah
Jerusalem Talmud Megillah: the Gemara of the land of Israel on Mishnah Megillah ("Scroll"), in the order Mo'ed (Appointed Times). Reading the scroll of Esther on Purim, the public reading of the Torah and the Prophets, and the holiness of synagogues and scrolls. The Jerusalem Talmud (Talmud Yerushalmi) was compiled in Galilee, chiefly at Tiberias, about AD 400; each halakhah quotes a passage of the Mishnah (MISHNAH) and then discusses it (HALAKHAH). It is rabbinic law and teaching, not scripture. English and Hebrew/Aramaic by Heinrich W. Guggenheimer; his footnotes are not reproduced. In the English, words in parentheses and square brackets are his deletions and additions; in the Hebrew, a reading in parentheses is the manuscript's, deleted, and the one in square brackets his correction.
