Jerusalem Talmud Peah

Jerusalem Talmud Peah: the Gemara of the land of Israel on Mishnah Peah ("Corner"), in the order Zera'im (Seeds). The corner of the field and the other gleanings left for the poor (Leviticus 19:9-10; Deuteronomy 24:19-21), and the poor tithe. The Jerusalem Talmud (Talmud Yerushalmi) was compiled in Galilee, chiefly at Tiberias, about AD 400; each halakhah quotes a passage of the Mishnah (MISHNAH) and then discusses it (HALAKHAH). It is rabbinic law and teaching, not scripture. English and Hebrew/Aramaic by Heinrich W. Guggenheimer; his footnotes are not reproduced. In the English, words in parentheses and square brackets are his deletions and additions; in the Hebrew, a reading in parentheses is the manuscript's, deleted, and the one in square brackets his correction.
