About My LORD’s Bible
A free, text-first reader for the King James Bible and the writings around it.
Who we are
My LORD’s Bible is written and maintained by Revs. Stefin and Jeanine Bradbury, doing business as MyLORDsBible.com, in Beverly Hills, Florida. It is a small, independent ministry project, not part of any denomination or publisher.
Why it exists
Most Bible sites give you one translation of one canon. Christians have never all held the same list of books: the Catholic and Orthodox churches received the Apocrypha, the Ethiopian Orthodox church keeps 1 Enoch and Jubilees, and the earliest Christian writers outside the New Testament show how the first generations read the apostles. We wanted all of that in one place, free, readable in full, and tied together verse by verse, so a reader can see for themselves what each tradition kept, and why.
Books are shelved by what they are, and each book page says which churches receive it as scripture. Texts that are not scripture in any church, such as the Talmud, the Zohar and the grimoires, sit on their own shelves and are labelled as historical sources.
Where the texts come from
Every text is in the public domain or openly licensed, and we record where each one came from. The King James Version is public domain. The Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek New Testament come from the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible and the Robinson Textus Receptus projects. The Apocrypha, the Apostolic Fathers, the pseudepigrapha, the Nag Hammadi writings and the rest come from older public-domain translations or from translators who released their work for free reuse; credit lines appear on the pages of texts that require one. Most cross-references come from the OpenBible.info dataset (CC BY 4.0), which builds on the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge, plus 3,283 links between the canons that we chose by hand. Where we carry the original Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic or Ge’ez, it sits beside the English.
How the texts are checked
Most of these texts reached us as scanned books or machine-read text, which is full of errors. We use SI (Super Intelligence) tools to help transcribe and compare texts, and we do not take their output on trust. We audit it against the printed page, remove translators’ apparatus and editorial commentary that is not part of the text, repair missing and merged verses, and re-check original-language texts from page images. A book that failed these checks has been removed rather than kept. This work is ongoing, and some texts have been checked more thoroughly than others. If you find a mistake, please tell us.
What we write ourselves
The scripture text is not ours, but the surrounding explanation is. The Learn articles, the life of Jesus collection, Devotions and the topical concordance are written for this site, and each points back to the verses it draws on.
