Translations

Public-domain Bible translations beside the King James text, starting with the Douay-Rheims and the Latin Vulgate it was made from.

This shelf carries the Bible in other public-domain translations, so a reader can set one rendering beside another. It begins with the Douay-Rheims Bible in Bishop Challoner's revision, the standard English Bible of the Catholic Church for two centuries, with the Latin Vulgate it was translated from set beside each verse.

The Douay-Rheims and the Vulgate follow the Vulgate's own book names and numbering, which differ from the King James Version in places: the Psalms are numbered as in the Vulgate (Psalm 22 here is Psalm 23 in the King James Version), and Samuel and Kings appear as the four books of Kings. More translations will be added over time.
