Ignatius to the Romans

Written by Ignatius of Antioch en route to martyrdom, traditionally dated c. AD 107-110 (some scholars propose as late as the 130s), to the church he expected to greet him in Rome. Famous for Ignatius's ardent eagerness for martyrdom -- 'I am the wheat of God, and I am ground by the teeth of wild beasts.'
