The Roman Missal: Supplement, Masses Authorized for England (English) 1

The Supplement to the English of the Rev. F. C. Husenbeth's Missal for the use of the Laity (London, 1853): additional Masses authorized for England, in the form used before the liturgical reform of the 1950s. They are a Mass for the Second Sunday after Epiphany; the Friday Masses of the Passion in Septuagesima and Lent (the Prayer on the Mount of Olives, the Passion, the Crown of Thorns, the Spear and Nails, the Winding-sheet, the Five Wounds, the Most Precious Blood); the Patronage of St Joseph; the Sacred Heart; the October Sundays of the Blessed Virgin (Maternity, Purity, Patronage); the Thursday Mass of the Most Holy Sacrament and the Saturday Mass of Our Lady; the Desponsation of the Blessed Virgin; St Gabriel; St John Nepomucen; Our Lady Help of Christians; St Francis Caracciolo; the Vigil of SS. Peter and Paul; the Most Holy Redeemer; St Raphael; and the Expectation of the Blessed Virgin. This is the English only; the Latin is to be added. The words in square brackets are the Missal's own headings and directions. A liturgy of the Catholic Church, not scripture.
