The Roman Missal: Proper of Saints, March and April (English) 1

The Masses of the saints' days for March and April in the English of the Rev. F. C. Husenbeth's Missal for the use of the Laity (London, 1853), in the form used from the Council of Trent until the liturgical reform of the 1950s: St Thomas of Aquin, the Forty Martyrs, St Gregory the Great, St Patrick, St Joseph, St Benedict, the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St Francis of Paula, St Leo the Great, St George (patron of England), St Mark and St Peter Martyr. Many days give only the first words of a Mass in the Common of Saints, with the prayers proper to that saint. This is the English only; the Latin is to be added. The words in square brackets are the Missal's own headings and directions. A liturgy of the Catholic Church, not scripture.

3Prayer. Concede nobis. Grant us, O Almighty God, that the pious intercession of blessed David, thy confessor and bishop, may protect us, and whilst we celebrate his solemn festival, may we imitate his firmness in defending the Catholic faith. Through our Lord, &c.
