Testament of Issachar 2

1KNOW ye therefore, my children, that in the last times your sons will forsake singleness, and will cleave unto insatiable desire.

Γινώσκετε οὖν, τέκνα μου, ὅτι ἐν ἐσχάτοις καιροῖς καταλείψουσιν οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν τὴν ἁπλότητα καὶ κολληθήσονται τῇ ἀπληστίᾳ, (11611)

2And leaving guilelessness, will draw near to malice; and forsaking the commandments of the Lord, they will cleave unto Beliar.

καὶ ἀφέντες τὴν ἀκακίαν προσπελάσουσι τῇ πανουργίᾳ, καὶ καταλιμπάνοντες τὰς ἐντολὰς Κυρίου κολληθήσονται τῷ Βελίαρ. (9422)

3And leaving husbandry, they will follow after their own wicked devices, and they shall be dispersed among the Gentiles, and shall serve their enemies.

Καὶ ἀφέντες τὸ γεωργεῖν ἐξακολουθήσουσι τοῖς πονηροῖς διαβουλίοις αὐτῶν καὶ διασπαρήσονται ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν καὶ δουλεύσουσιν τοῖς ἐχθροῖς αὐτῶν. (14542)

4And do you therefore give these commands to your children, that, if they sin, they may the more quickly return to the Lord; For He is merciful, and will deliver them, even to bring them back into their land.

Καὶ ὑμεῖς οὖν εἴπατε ταῦτα τοῖς τέκνοις ὑμῶν, ὅπως, ἐὰν ἁμάρτωσι, τάχιον ἐπιστρέψωσι πρὸς τὸν Κύριον, Ὅτι ἐλεήμων ἐστὶ καὶ ἐξελεῖται αὐτοὺς τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν. (22151)

5Behold, therefore, as ye see, I am a hundred and twenty-six years old and am not conscious of committing any sin.

Ἰδοὺ οὖν ὡς ὁρᾶτε, ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι καὶ ἓξ ἐτῶν ὑπάρχω, καὶ οὐκ ἔγνων ἐν ἐμοὶ ἁμαρτίαν (8585)

6Except my wife I have not known any woman. I never committed fornication by the uplifting of my eyes.

Πλὴν τῆς γυναικός μου οὐκ ἔγνων ἄλλην. Οὐκ ἐπόρνευσα ἐν μετεωρισμῷ ὀφθαλμῶν μου, (9223)

7I drank not wine, to be led astray thereby;

Οἶνον εἰς ἀποπλάνησιν οὐκ ἔπιον· (1750)

8I coveted not any desirable thing that was my neighbour's.

πᾶν ἐπιθύμημα τοῦ πλησίον οὐκ ἐπεθύμησα, (3180)

9Guile arose not in my heart;

Δόλος οὐκ ἐγένετο ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ μου· (2311)

10A lie passed not through my lips.

ψεῦδος οὐκ ἀνῆλθε διὰ τῶν χειλέων μου, (5147)

11If any man were in distress I joined my sighs with his,

Παντὶ ἀνθρώπῳ ὀδυνομένῳ συνεστέναξα (5042)

12And I shared my bread with the poor.

καὶ πτωχῷ μετέδωκα ἄρτον μου. (4817)

13I wrought godliness, all my days I kept truth.

Εὐσέβειαν ἐποίησα ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ἡμέραις μου, Ἀλήθειαν ἐφύλαξα, (4095)

14I loved the Lord; likewise also every man with all my heart.

Τὸν Κύριον ἠγάπησα καὶ πάντα ἄνθρωπον ἐξ ὅλης τῆς καρδίας μου (4721)

15So do you also these things, my children, and every spirit of Beliar shall flee from you, and no deed of wicked men shall rule over you;

Ταῦτα καὶ ὑμεῖς, τέκνα μου, ποιεῖτε, καὶ πᾶν πνεῦμα τοῦ Βελίαρ φεύξεται ἀφ' ὑμῶν καὶ πᾶσα πρᾶξις πονηρῶν ἀνθρώπων οὐ κυριεύσει ὑμῶν (14504)

16And every wild beast shall ye subdue, since you have with you the God of heaven and earth and walk with men in singleness of heart.

καὶ πᾶν ἄγριον θηρίον καταδουλώσετε ἔχοντες μεθ' ὑμῶν τὸν θεὸν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς συμπορευόμενον τοῖς ἀνθρώποις ἐν ἁπλότητι καρδίας. (13188)

17And having said these things, he commanded his sons that they should carry him up to Hebron, and bury him there in the cave with his fathers.

Καὶ ταῦτα εἰπὼν ἐνετείλατο τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ ὅπως ἀναγάγωσιν αὐτὸν ἐν Χεβρών, κἀκεῖ θάψωσιν αὐτὸν μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ. (16547)

18And he stretched out his feet and died, at a good old age; with every limb sound, and with strength unabated, he slept the eternal sleep.

Καὶ ἐξέτεινε τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέθανε ἐν γήρει καλῷ, πᾶν μέλος ἔχων ὑγιές, καὶ ἰσχύων ὕπνωσεν ὕπνον αἰώνιον. (12047)
