Alongside scripture and its legendary retellings, this library also carries a shelf for straightforward ancient historical writing — works that set out to record events, not to retell or embellish them into narrative or devotional literature. These are primary historical sources for the world the Bible was written in and about, read here for the light they shed on that world, not as scripture.

This collection includes the works of the first-century Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, in William Whiston's 1737 translation — more titles are still being added, so check back, or see the Library index for what's live.
