1THE copy of the words of Zebulun, which he enjoined on his sons before he died in the hundred and fourteenth year of his life, two years after the death of Joseph.
Διαθήκη Ζαβουλὼν τοῦ ἕκτου υἱοῦ Ἰακὼβ καὶ Λείας
2And he said to them: Hearken to me, ye sons of Zebulun attend to the words of your father.
ῬΡΑντίγραφον λόγων Ζαβουλών, ὧνϑ διέθετο τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτοῦ, ἣ ἀποθανεῖν αὐτὸν Ἐὲν τῷδ καὶ δεκάτῳ ἔτει τῆς ζωῆς μετὰ δύο ἔτη θανάτου ᾿Ιωσήφ.
3I, Zebulun, was born a good gift to my parents.
Εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ᾿Ακούσατέ μου, ἑρμηνεύεται δῶρον υἱοῦ ᾿Ιακὼβ καὶ ς᾽ περὶ υἱοὶ Ζαβουλών Ἐπροσέχετε ῥήμασιν, τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν
4For when I was born my father was increased very exceedingly, both in flocks and herds, when with the straked rods he had his portion.
5I am not conscious that I have sinned all my days, save in thought.
Ἐγὼ Ζαβουλὼν δόσις ἀγαθὴ τοῖς γονεῦσί μου ἐν γὰρ τῷ τεχθῆνα. με, ηὐξήνθη ὁ πατήρ μουὶ σφόδρα καὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ τὰ βουκόλια, ὅτε; Ἐὲν ταῖς β-ἃ ἕως ποικίλαις τὸν κλῆρον.
6Nor yet do I remember that I have done any iniquity, except the sin of ignorance which I committed against Joseph; for I covenanted with my brethren not to tell my father what had been done.
Οὐκ ἔγνων ᾿ ἢ ἥμαρτον ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις μου ἱπαρεκτὸς ἐννοίας,
7But I wept in secret many days on account of Joseph, for I feared my brethren, because they had all agreed that if any one should declare the secret, he should be slain.
ὑ μνήσκομανϑ ὅτι παρανομίαν ἐποίησα, πλὴν τὴν ἄγνοιαν εἶχεν. ἐποίησα ἐπὶ ᾿Ιωσήφ, ὅτι ἐβεβαίωσαδ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς μουϑ Ἐμὴ εἰπεῖνϑϑ Ἐτῷ πατρί μουδ τὸ γενόμενον. Αλλ᾽ μμῤρ νηὶ ἔκλαιον δ᾽ Γὲν κρυφῇ Ἑἡμέρας πολλὰς Ἐδιὰ τὸν Ἰωσήφ Ἐξφοβούμην ἀδελφούς μου, συνέθεντο πάντες ἐξείπῃ τὸ μυστήριον ἀναιρεθῆναι αὐτόν τυράμην
8But when they wished to kill him, I adjured them much with tears not to be guilty of this sin.
ἘΠλὴν ὅτε ἐβούλοντο ἀνελεῖν αὐτόν Ἐἐγὼ μετὰ δακρύων αὐτοῖς
9For Simeon and Gad came against Joseph to kill him, and he said unto them with tears: Pity me, my brethren, have mercy upon the bowels of Jacob our father: lay not upon me your hands to shed innocent blood, for I have not sinned against you.
Ἦλθον; ὁ Συμεὼν ὁ Δὰν καὶ δὲ τοῦ. β,Α, τὸν ᾿Ιωσὴφ τοῦ ἀνελεῖν αὐτόν, καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς μετὰ ἐπὶ τὸν δακρύων,
10And if indeed I have sinned, with chastening chastise me, my brethren, but lay not upon me your hand, for the sake of Jacob our father,
11And as he spoke these words, wailing as he did so, I was unable to bear his lamentations, and began to weep, and my liver was poured out, and all the substance of my bowels was loosened.
᾿Ελεήσατέ με ἀδέλφοί Γτοῦ σπλάγχναϑ τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν Μὴ ἐπαγάγετε ἀνελεῖν τὰς Χεῖρας ὑμῶν ἐκχέαι αἷμα ἀθφονῖ, ὅτι οὐχ ἥμαρτον καὶπεσὼν εἰς ὑμᾶς.
12And I wept with Joseph and my heart sounded, and the joints of my body trembled, and I was not able to stand.
Εἰ δὲ καὶ ἥμαρτον, ἐν παιδείᾳ παιδεύσατέ ἐπὶ πρόσἀδελφοί μουἾ, Ἐτὴν δὲ χεῖρα ὑμῶν μὴ ἐνέγκατε ἐν φόνῳ πον ἀδελφοῦ ὁμῶν διὰ ᾿Ιακὼβ τὸν πατέρα ὑμῶν δὲ ἔλεγεν ἔλεγεν ὀδυρόμενος τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα, Ἐμὴ φέρων ἐγὼ τῶν οἰμωγῶν ἠρξάμην κλαίειν, καὶ τὰ ἥπατά μου ἐξεχύθησαν καὶ πᾶσα ἡ ὑπόστασις τῶν σπλάγχνων μου ἐχαυνοῦτοῖδ, ἐπ᾿
13And when Joseph saw me weeping with him, and them coming against him to slay him, he fled behind me, beseeching them.
ἀπΕκλαιον, δὲ σὺν τῷ ᾿Ιωσὴφ καὶ ἐβόμβει ἡ καρδία μου, Μὲ Γκαὶ ἁρμοὶ τοῦ σὐμαϊό μου ἔτρεμον. καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνάμην. στῆναιδ,
14But meanwhile Reuben arose and said: Come, my brethren, let us not slay him, but let us cast him into one of these dry pits, which our fathers digged and found no water.
ῬΓΙδὼν δὲ Ἰωσὴφ συνκλαΐοντά αὐτῷ, ἐ μοι. κἀκείνους ἐπερχομένους ἀνελεῖν αὐτόν κατέφυγεν ὄπισθέν οἶκτον ἦλθον ἐγὼ καί. ἐπὶ τὴν ψυχήν ἔκλαιε δὲ καὶ Ἰωσὴφ κἀγὼ σὺν αὐτῷ. δ᾽ ἐξέστησαν. μου, δεόμενος Ἐτῆς πρὸς αὐτὸν βοηθείας δὲ τῷ μεταξὺ ἀναστὰς Ῥουβὴμδ εἴπεν. Δεῦτε ἀδελφοί μου μὴ ἀποκτείνωμεν αὐτὸν ἀλλὰ ῥίψωμεν αὐτὸν ἕνα τῶν Ἐξηρῶν ἀναστὰς λάκκων τούτων ὧν ὥρυξαν οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν, καὶ οὐχ εὗρον ὕδωρ.
15For for this cause the Lord forbade that water should rise up in them in order that Joseph should be preserved.
Διὰ γὰρ τοῦτο ἐκώλυσε Κύριος μὴ Ἔν ἀναβλῦσαι ἐν αὐτοῖς ἵνα Ἐγένηται περιποίησις τῷ τοῦ Ἰωσήφ.
16And they did so, until they sold him to the Ishmaelites.
17For in his price I had no share, my children.
ἘΚαὶ ἐποίησαν ἴ ἕως ὅτου ἐπώλησαν τὸ τίμημα αὐτοῦ ἐγὼ οὐκ ἐκοινώνησα, τέκνα
18But Simeon and Gad and six other of our brethren took the price of Joseph, and bought sandals for themselves, and their wives, and their children, saying:
Ῥ᾿Αλλὰ Συμεὼν καὶ Δὰν καὶ ὁ Γὰδ καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶνϑδ, λαβόντες τιμὴν αὐτοῦδ Τὰδ καὶ οἷ ἄλλοε ὑποδήματα ἑαυτοῖς καὶ ταῖς γυναιξὶν αὐτῶν τοῖς τέκνοις ἐξ ἀδελ. αὐτῶν, εἰπόντες φαγόμεθα αὐτήν, ὅτι τιμή φοὶἡ μῶν, ἐστιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ ἡμῶν, ἀλλὰ καταπατήσει Ἰωσήφ, τέκνα ᾽ ἐκοιν., ἐγὼ οὐκ ἐκοινώνησα, καὶ ἐκ τῆς τιμῆς ἡμᾶς Γκαὶ ἴδωμεν τί Ἐτὰ ἐνύπνιαϊ αὐτοῦ
19We will not eat of it, for it is the price of our brother's blood, but we will assuredly tread it under foot, because he said that he would be king over us, and so let us see what will become of his dreams.
Διὰ τοῦτο οὖν. ἐν Γγραφῇ; Ἐνόμου Μωυσέως γέγραπται. μὴ θέλοντα ἀναστῆσαι τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ πρόσωπον. οἱ ἀδελφοὶ τοῦ Ἰωσὴφ οὐκ ἠθέληΤῴωὴν ἀδελφοῦ αὐτῶν, καὶ Κύριος ὑπέλυσεν αὐτοὺς τὸ ὑπόδημαδι Ἐὸ ἐφόρεσαν κατὰ Ἰωσὴφ τοῦ ἀδελφοθῖ αὐτῶν
20Therefore it is written in the writing of the law of Moses, that whosoever will not raise up seed to his brother, his sandal should be unloosed, and they should spit in his face.
Καὶ ἐλθόντες ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ὑπελύθηὑπὸ τῶν παίδων Ιωσὴφ τοῦ πυλῶνος, καὶ προσθεν. οὕτως προσεκύνησαν Ἐγὼ Ἰωσὴφ κατὰ τὸν τύπον βασιλέως Φαραώ
21And the brethren of Joseph wished not that their brother should live, and the Lord loosed from them the sandal which they wore against Joseph their brother.
Οὐ μόνον δὲ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ ἀλλὰ καὶ παραχρῆμα πεσόντες ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ὃ ἠσχύνθησανδ τῶν σθεν. Αἰγυπτίων
22For when they came into Egypt they were unloosed by the servants of Joseph outside the gate, and so they made obeisance to Joseph after the fashion of King Pharaoh.
23And not only did they make obeisance to him, but were spit upon also, falling down before him forthwith, and so they were put to shame before. the Egyptians.
ἘΞΎΉκουσαν γὰρ ὅσα ἐνεδείξαντο αὐτῷ ἀν, δὲ τὸ ἸπραθῆἘΜετὰ δὲ τὸ βάλλειν αὐτὸν ἐκάθησαν οἱ ἀδελαὐτὸν εἰς τὸν λάκκον μου ἐσθίειν καὶ πίνειν. θησαν ἐσθίειν ἀδελφοί πάντα τὰ
24For after this the Egyptians heard all the evils that they had done to Joseph.
Ἐγὼ δὲ σπλαγχνιζόμενος μουῖϊ.
25And after he was sold my brothers sat down to eat and drink.
Ἐγὼ δύο Ππρδ τὸν Ἰωσὴφ ἔφαγον ἡμέρας καὶ δύο νύκτας οὐκ μεν τῷ προσέχων δὲ τῷ λάκκῳ, ἐπειἐγευσάμην, σπλαγχνιζόμενος Ἰωσήφ. ἐφοβεῖτοδ ᾿Ιούδας μήπως ἀποπηδήσαντες Συμεὼν καὶ ὃ ἐπὶ Ἰωσήφ καὶἹ Ἰούδας οὐ συνέτρωγεν αὐτοῖς ἘπροσΔὰν καὶ ὁ Γὰδ ἀνέλωσιν εἶχε δὲ λάκκῳ., Ἐδτι αὐτόν.
26But I, through pity for Joseph, did not eat, but watched the pit, since Judah feared lest Simeon, Dan, and Gad should rush off and slay him.
Ὁρῶντές με δὲ ἐφοβεῖτο μὴ ἀποπηδήσανμὴ ἐσθίοντα ἔθεντό με τηρεῖν αὐτὸν ἕως οὗ ἀπεδόθη Ἰσμαηλίταις
27But when they saw that I did not eat, they set me to watch him, till he was sold to the Ishmaelites.
᾿Ελθὼν δὲ Ῥουβὶμ καὶ ἀκούσας ὅτι ἐπράθη ἀπόντος Ἑαὐτοῦ περιεσχίσατο τὸν χιτῶνα αὐτοῦ θρηνῶν ἔλεγεν Πῶς τες Συμεὼν καὶ Γὰδ ἀνέλωσιν αὐτόν.
28And when Reuben came and heard that while he was away Joseph had been sold, he rent his garments, and mourning, said:
29How shall I look on the face of my father Jacob? And he took the money and ran after the merchants but as he failed to find them he returned grieving.
ἘΚαὶ ὁρῶντες κἀμὲ μὴ ἐσθίοντα ἔθεντό τηρεῖν αὐτὸν ἕως οὗ ἐπράθη,
30But the merchants had left the broad road and marched through the Troglodytes by a short cut.
Ἐποίησε δὲ ἐν τῷ λάκκῳ τρεῖς ἡμέρας καὶ τρεῖς νύκτας καὶ οὕτως ἐπράΑἰγυπτίοις. τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ θη ἄσιτος
31But Reuben was grieved, and ate no food that day.
ἘΚαὶ ἀκού. πατρός μου Ἶακώβ; σας Ῥουβὴμ ὅτι ἐπράθη ἀπόνΚαὶ λαβὼν τὸ ἀργύριον κατέαὐτοῦ, περισχιόσάμενος ὃραμεν ὀπίσω τοῖς ἐμπόροις ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ ἐθρήνειδ, μὴ εὑρὼν δὲ αὐτοὺς ὑπέλέγων ἘΠΩῶς ὄψομαι τὸ στρεψεν ὀδυρόμενος καταπρόσωπον ᾿Ιακὼβϑ τοῦ πατρός λιπόντες δὲ ἔμποροι τὴν μουϑὅ;
32Dan therefore came to him and said: Weep not, neither grieve; for we have found what we can say to our father Jacob.
Καὶ λαβὼν τὸ πλατεῖαν ὁδὸν διόδευσαν διὰ ἀργύριονδ κατέδραμεδ᾽ Ἔτοῖς ἘΤρογλοδίτων ἐν συντόμῳ ἐμπόροις Ἐκαὶ οὐδένα εὖ ἀφέντες γὰρ τὴν ὁδὸν Ῥουτὴν μεγάλην ἐπορεύθησαν βήμ Τρωγλοδύτων ἐν τῇ πένθει συντόμῳ. εὗἷρον.. δὲ ὁ Ρουβὶμ λυπούμενος καὶ οὐκ ἔφαγενδ ἄρτον ἐκείνῃ τῇ Ἐπροσελθὼν οὖν ὁ Δὰν εἶπεν αὐτῷ
33Let us slay a kid of the goats, and dip in it the coat of Joseph; and let us send it to Jacob, saying: Know, is this the coat of thy son?
Μὴ κλαῖε μηδὲ λυποῦ εὕρομεν γὰρ τί τῷ πατρὶ ἡμῶνδι͵
34And they did so. For they stripped off from Joseph his coat when they were selling him, and put upon him the garment of a slave.
35Now Simeon took the coat, and would not give it up, for he wished to rend it with his sword, as he was angry that Joseph lived and that he had not slain him.
Θύσωμεν μαχαίρᾳ μεν. αἰγῶν καὶ τὸν χιτῶνα Ἰωσήφ, καὶ Ἑἀποστείλωμεν ὄψωμαι. Ὁ ἃ ἰγβ. μου. ὅδ τοδβ ἡμῶν. τίμημα. ν᾿ αὐτὸν τῷ ἢ ἰδκὸβ λέγοντες Ἐπίγνωθι, Ἐχιτὼν τοῦ υἱοῦ σου ἐστίοδι, καὶ ἐποίησαν οὕτως ὅ, Τὸν γὰρ χεῖμα ἐξέδυσαν τὸν Ἰωσὴφ ἐν ἔἘτῷ πιπράσκειν Ἰακώβ ἐνέδυσαν αὐτὸν ἱμάτιον δουλικόν δ᾽,
36Then we all rose up and said unto him: If thou givest not up the coat, we will say to our father that thou alone didst this evil thing in Israel.
ἘΈλαβε δὲ Συμεὼν τὸν χιτῶνα Γκαὶδ οὐκ ἤθελε δοῦναι αὐτόν γὰρ τῇ ῥομφαίᾳ Ἐκατακόψαι αὐτόν ὀργιζόμενος ὅτι οὐκῖθ δούλου. ἀνεῖλεν αὐτόν.
37And so he gave it unto them, and they did even as Dan had said.
᾿Αναστάντες ἘΓχάντεςἷ εἴπομεν αὐτῷϊ, ὅτιϊδ μὴ δῷς Γτῷ πατρὶ ἡμῶν ὅτι. σὺϊβ μόνος ἐποίησας τὸ πονηρὸν ἐν βὰν Ἰσραήλ οὕτως δέδωκεν αὐτὸν αὐτοῖς βι ἐποίησαν καθὼς Ἐεῖπεν ὁ
