2And the sons of Noah came to Noah their father, and they told him concerning the demons which were leading astray and blinding and slaying his sons' sons.
ወመጽአ፡ *ውሉድ፡ ኖኅ፡²⁰ ኀበ፡ ኖኅ፡ አቡሆሙ፡ ወነገርዎ፡ በእንተ፡ አጋንንት፡ እሊ፡ ያስሕቱ፡ ወይፄድሉ፡ ወይቀትኑ፡ ውሉድ፡ ውሉዱ፡፡
3And he prayed before the Lord his God, and said: 'God of the spirits of all flesh, who hast shown mercy unto me And hast saved me and my sons from the waters of the flood, And hast not caused me to perish as Thou didst the sons of perdition; For Thy grace has been great towards me, And great has been Thy mercy to my soul; Let Thy grace be lift up upon my sons, And let not wicked spirits rule over them Lest they should destroy them from the earth.
ወጸለየ፡²¹ ቅድመ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላከ፡ ወይቤ፡ አምላከ፡ መናፍስት፡ ዘውስተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዘሥጋ፡ ዘገበርከ፡ ምስሌየ፡²² ምሕረተ፡ ወእድኅንኒከ፡ ወውሉድ*የ፡ እምነ፡ ማየ፡²³ አይኅ፡ ወኢ*ገበርከኒ፡²⁴ ከመ፡ እኅልቅ፡²⁵ በ²⁶ከመ፡ ገበርከ፡²⁷ ለውሉድ፡ ሐጕል፡ እስመ፡ ዐቢይ፡ ግህልክ፡²⁸ ላዐሌየ፡ ወ*ዐቢየት፡ ምሕረትከ፡²⁹ ላዐለ፡ ነፍስየ፡ ይትገሰል፡³⁰ ግህልክ፡²⁸ ላዐለ፡ ውሉድየ፡³¹ ወኢይመብሉ፡ መናፍስት፡ እኵይ፡ ላዐሌሆሙ፡ ከመ፡ እየማስንዎሙ፡ እምነ፡ ምድር፡፡
4But do Thou bless me and my sons, that we may increase and Multiply and replenish the earth.
ወ*አንተ፡ ባርከ፡³² ኪየየ፡ ወውሉድየ፡ *ንልህቅ፡ ወንብዛኅ፡³³ ወ*ንምልእ፡³⁴ ለምድር፡፡
5And Thou knowest how Thy Watchers, the fathers of these spirits, acted in my day: and as for these spirits which are living, imprison them and hold them fast in the place of condemnation, and let them not bring destruction on the sons of thy servant, my God; for these are malignant, and created in order to destroy.
ወእንተ፡ ታአምር፡ ዘከመ፡ *ገብሩ፡ ትጉሃኒከ፡³⁵ አበዊሆሙ፡ ለእሉ፡ መናፍስት፡³⁶ በመዋዕልየ፡ ወዘኒ፡ መናፍስት፡ እሎ፡ ሀለዉ፡ በሕይወት፡³⁷ ዕፅምሙ፡ ወእንዝሙ፡ ውስተ፡ መካነ፡ ደይን፡ ወኢያማስኑ፡ ውስተ፡³⁸ ውሉድ፡³⁹ ገብርከ፡ አምላኪየ፡ እስመ፡ ጸዋጋን፡ እሙንቱ፡ ወለእማስኖ፡ ተፈጥሮ፡፡
6And let them not rule over the spirits of the living; for Thou alone canst exercise dominion over them. And let them not have power over the sons of the righteous , from henceforth and for evermore.'
ወኢይመብሉ፡ በመንፈስ፡ ሕየዋን፡ እስመ፡ አንተ፡ ባሕቲትከ፡⁴⁰ ታአምር፡ ሥናሆሙ፡፡ ወኢይትበውሑ፡ ላዐለ፡ ውሉድ፡ ጻድቃን፡⁴¹ እምይእዜ፡ ወእስከ፡ ለዓለም፡፡
7And the Lord our God bade us to bind all.
ወይቤ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡⁴² አምላክነ፡ ከመ፡ ንእስር፡ ኵሎ፡፡
8And the chief of the spirits, Mastema, came and said: 'Lord, Creator, let some of them remain before me, and let them harken to my voice, and do all that I shall say unto them; for if some of them are not left to me, I shall not be able to execute the power of my will on the sons of men; for these are for corruption and leading astray before my judgment, for great is the wickedness of the sons of men.'
ወመጽአ፡ መልአክ፡ መናፍስት፡ መስቴማ፡ ወይቤ፡ እግዚአ፡¹ ፈጣሪ፡ አትርፍ፡ እምኔሆሙ፡ ቅድሜየ፡ ወይስምዑ፡ ቃልየ፡ ወይግበሩ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘእቤሎሙ፡ እስመ፡ እመ፡ ኢ*ተርፉ፡² ሊተ፡ እምውስቴቶሙ፡ ኢይክል፡ ገቢረ፡ *ስልጣነ፡ ፈቃድየ፡ ውስተ፡³ ውሉደ፡ ስብእ፡ እስመ፡ *እሙንቱ፡ ውእቶሙ፡⁴ ለአማስኖ፡⁵ ወለአስሕተ፡ ቅድመ፡ ዝንኔየ፡ እስመ፡ ዐቢይ፡ እከዮሙ፡⁶ ለውሉድ፡ ስብእ፡፡
9And He said: Let the tenth part of them remain before him, and let nine parts descend into the place of condemnation.'
ወይቤ፡ ይትረፉ፡⁷ ቅድሜሁ፡⁸ ዓስራቱ፡⁹ ወተስዑ፡ መክፈልት፡ ያውርድ፡ ውስተ፡ መካነ፡ ደይን፡፡
10And one of us He commanded that we should teach Noah all their medicines; for He knew that they would not walk in uprightness, nor strive in righteousness.
ወለአሑዱ፡¹² እምኔነ፡ ይቤ፡ ከመ፡ ንምህሮ፡ ለኖኅ፡ ኵሉ፡¹³ ፈውሶሙ፡ እስመ፡ ያአምር፡ ከመ፡ እኩ፡ በርትዖ፡ ዘየሐውሩ፡ ወእኩ፡ በ¹⁴ጽድቁ፡ ዘይትባአሱ፡፡
11And we did according to all His words: all the malignant evil ones we bound in the place of condemnation and a tenth part of them we left that they might be subject before Satan on the earth.
ወገበርነ፡ በከመ፡ ኵሉ፡¹⁵ ቃሉ፡ ኵሉ፡¹⁶ እኩያን፡ እለ፡ ይደወጉ፡ አሰርነ፡¹⁷ ውስተ፡ መካነ፡ ደይን፡ ወ*ዓሠራቶሙ፡¹⁸
12And we explained to Noah all the medicines of their diseases, together with their seductions, how he might heal them with herbs of the earth.
አትረፍነ፡ ከመ፡ ይትኵነኑ፡¹⁹ ቅድመ፡ ሰይጣን፡ ዲበ፡ ምድር፡፡ ወፈውሰ፡ ደዊሆሙ፡ ኵሎ፡
13And Noah wrote down all things in a book as we instructed him concerning every kind of medicine. Thus the evil spirits were precluded from (hurting) the sons of Noah.
ነገርናሁ፡ ለኖኅ፡ ምስለ፡ እስሕተቶሙ፡²⁰ ከመ፡ ይፈውስ፡²¹ በዕፀወ፡²² ምድር፡፡ ወጸሐፈ፡ ኖኅ፡ ኵሎ፡ ዘ*ከመ፡¹³ መህርናሁ፡ በመጽሓፍ፡ በእንተ፡ ትዝምደ፡ ፈውሳት፡²³ ወተዐጸዉ፡ መናፍስት፡
14And he gave all that he had written to Shem, his eldest son; for he loved him exceedingly above all his sons.
እኵያን፡ እምድኅሬሆሙ፡ ለውሉድ፡ ኖኅ፡፡ ወወሀበ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዘጸሐፈ፡²⁴ ለሴም፡ ወልዱ፡ ዘይልህቅ፡
16Nine hundred and fifty years he completed in his life, nineteen jubilees and two weeks and five years.
ወተቀብረ፡ ውስተ፡ ሉባር፡²⁶ ደብር፡ በምድረ፡ እራራት፡፡ ⟦illegible: numeral⟧²⁷ ወ⟦illegible: numeral⟧ ዓመት፡ ፈጸመ፡ በሕይወቱ፡
17And in his life on earth he excelled the children of men save Enoch because of the righteousness, wherein he was perfect. For Enoch's office was ordained for a testimony to the generations of the world, so that he should recount all the deeds of generation unto generation, till the day of judgment.
18And in the three and thirtieth jubilee, in the first year in the second week, Peleg took to himself a wife, whose name was Lomna the daughter of Sina'ar, and she bare him a son in the fourth year of this week, and he called his name Reu; for he said: 'Behold the children of men have become evil through the wicked purpose of building for themselves a city and a tower in the land of Shinar.'
ትውልድ፡ ለ³⁶ዐለት፡ ደይን፡፡ ወበ*ሰጋሳ፡ ወሰለስቱ፡³⁷ ኤዮቤልው፡²⁹ በዓመት፡ አሐዱ፡¹³ በዘ³⁹ካልእ፡ ሱባዔ፡ ነሠእ፡ ሎቱ፡¹¹ ፋሌክ፡ ብእሲት፡ እንተ፡ ስማ፡ *ሎምና፡ ወለት፡ ቢናኤር፡³⁹ ወወለደት፡ ሎቱ፡ ወልደ፡ በዓመት፡ ራብዑ፡ ዘሱባዔ፡ ዝንቱ፡፡ ወጸወዖ፡ ስሙ፡ ራገው፡⁴⁰ እስመ፡ ይቤ፡ ናሁ፡ ውሉድ፡ ስብእ፡ ኮሉ፡ እኩያነ፡ በ*ምክረ፡⁴¹ ዑግ፡ ከመ፡ ይሕንፁ፡ ሎሙ፡ ሀገረ፡ ወማኅፈደ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድረ፡
19For they departed from the land of Ararat eastward to Shinar; for in his days they built the city and the tower, saying, 'Go to, let us ascend thereby into heaven.'
ሲናእር፡፡⁴² እስመ፡ ፈለሱ፡ እምድረ፡⁴³ እራራት፡ መንገለ፡ ጽባሕ፡ ውስተ፡ ሲናእር፡⁴² እስመ፡ በ⁴⁴መዋዖሊሁ፡ ሐነጹ፡ ሰሀገር፡ ወ*ለ¹³ማኅፈደ፡ እንዘ፡ ይብሉ፡ ንዑ፡ ንዕርግ፡ ቦቱ፡ ውስተ፡
20And they began to build, and in the fourth week they made brick with fire, and the bricks served them for stone, and the clay with which they cemented them together was asphalt which comes out of the sea, and out of the fountains of water in the land of Shinar.
ሰማይ፡፡ ወእንዙ፡ ይሕንጹ፡ ወበሱባዔ፡ ራብዖ፡ ገንፈሉ፡⁴⁵ በእሳት፡ ወኮኖሙ፡ ግንፉል፡ ከመ፡ እብን፡ እፅቡር፡ በዘይመርግ፡ ቦቱ፡ እስፋሊጦስ፡⁴⁶ ዘይወፅእ፡ እምነ፡ ባሕር፡ ወእም⁴⁷እንቀዖተ፡
21And they built it: forty and three years were they building it; its breadth was 203 bricks, and the height (of a brick) was the third of one; its height amounted to 5433 cubits and two palms, and (the extent of one wall was) thirteen stades (and of the other thirty stades).
ማያት፡ በምድረ፡ ሰናእር፡፡⁴⁸ ወሐነጹ፡ *እርባዓ፡ ዓመተ፡ ወሠለስተ፡ ዓመተ፡⁴⁹ ሀለዉ፡ የሐንጹ፡ ግንፉል፡ ጽፍሑ፡⁵⁰ ⟦illegible: numeral cluster⟧⁵¹ ወስቴቱ፡ ወግልስት፡⁵² እሓቲ፡ ኑኑ፡⁵³ *ሐምሳ፡ ምእት፡ ወአርባዑቱ፡ ምእት፡ ወሰላሳ፡ ወሰለስቱ፡⁵⁴ በአመት፡ ኀርገ ኑኑ *ወክልኤ፡ በዘር፡¹³ ወ⟦illegible: symbol⟧⁵⁵ ምዕራፍ፡፡⁵⁶
22And the Lord our God said unto us: Behold, they are one people, and (this) they begin to do, and now nothing will be withholden from them. Go to, let us go down and confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech, and they may be dispersed into cities and nations, and one purpose will no longer abide with them till the day of judgment.'
ወይቤልዎ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ አምላክ፡ ስኒ፡ ናሁ፡ ሕዝብ፡¹³ አሐዱ፡ ወ¹³ወጠኑ፡ ይገበር፡⁵⁷ ወይእዜኒ፡
23And the Lord descended, and we descended with him to see the city and the tower which the children of men had built.
ኢይጎልቅ፡⁵⁸ እምኔሆሙ፡ ንዑ፡ *ንረድ፡ ወ⁶⁹ንክዐው፡⁶⁰ ልሳናቲሆሙ፡ ወኢይስማዑ፡ ⟦illegible: symbol cluster⟧ ካልኡ፡⁶¹ ወይዘረዉ፡ ውስተ፡ አህጉር፡ ወውስተ፡ አሕዛብ፡ ወ*እትነብር፡ እንክ፡⁶² አሐቲ፡ ምክር፡ ላዐቤሆሙ፡ እስከ፡ አመ፡ ዕሌት፡ ደይን፡፡ ወወረደ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ ወወረድነ፡ ምስሌሁ፡ ንርአይ፡ ሕገ፡ ወማኀፈደ፡ ዘሐነጹ፡ ውሉድ፡ ስብእ፡፡
24And he confounded their language, and they no longer understood one another's speech, and they ceased then to build the city and the tower.
ወዘረዎሙ፡ እግዚአብሔር፡ እምህየ፡ ውስተ፡ አሕዛብ፡ ወይሠጠ፡⁶³⁶⁴ ልሳናቲሆሙ፡ ወኢስምዑ፡ እንክ፡
25For this reason the whole land of Shinar is called Babel, because the Lord did there confound all the language of the children of men, and from thence they were dispersed into their cities, each according to his language and his nation.
አሓዱ፡⁶⁵ ቃለ፡ ካልኡ፡ ወእንተጎ እንክ፡ ሐይደ ሀገር፡ ወማኀፈደ፡፡⁶⁶ በእንተዝ፡ ተሰምየት፡ ሎ ምድረ፡ ሲናእር፡⁶⁷ ባቤል፡ እስመ፡ በህየ፡ በወጠ፡⁶⁸ እግዚአብሔር፡⁶⁹ ዙሎ፡¹³ ልሳናቲሆሙ፡ ለውሉድ፡ ስብእ፡ ወእምህየ፡ ተዘርዉ፡ ውስተ፡ አህጉራሆሙ፡ በበ፡ ልሳናቲሆሙ፡ ወበበ፡ ሕዘቢሆሙ።
27In the fourth week in the first year in the beginning thereof in the four and thirtieth jubilee, were they dispersed from the land of Shinar.
ውእቱ፡ ማእከለ፡ አሱር፡ ወባቢሎን፡ ውስተ፡ ምድረ፡ ሰናእር፡³ ወጸወዖ፡ ስሞ፡ ድቀት፡፡⁴ በ⁵ሱባዔ፡ ራብዕ፡ በአሐዱ፡⁶ ዓመት፡ በመቅደመ፡⁷ ዚአሁ፡ በ⁸*ሰላሳ፡ ወአርባዖቱ፡⁹ ኤዮቤልው፡ ተዘርዉ፡ እምድረ፡ ሲናእር፡፡¹¹
29And Canaan saw the land of Lebanon to the river of Egypt, that it was very good, and he went not into the land of his inheritance to the west (that is to) the sea, and he dwelt in the land of Lebanon, eastward and westward from the border of Jordan and from the border of the sea.
ወርእየ፡ ከናእን፡¹⁴ ምድረ፡ ሊባኖስ፡ እስከ፡ ሙሐዘ፡ ግብጽ፡ *ከመ፡ ሦናይ፡ ይእቲ፡¹⁵ ጥቀ፡ ወእሮረ፡¹⁶ ውስተ፡ ምድረ፡ ርስቱ፡ መንገለ፡ ዐረብ፡¹⁷ ባሕር፡ ወኃደረ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድረ፡ ሊባኖስ፡ እምጽባሕ፡ ወእምዓረብ፡ እምእደ፡ የርዳኖስ፡¹⁸ ወእም¹⁹እደ፡ ባሕር።
30And Ham, his father, and Cush and Mizraim his brothers said unto him: 'Thou hast settled in a land which is not thine, and which did not fall to us by lot: do not do so; for if thou dost do so, thou and thy sons will fall in the land and (be) accursed through sedition; for by sedition ye have settled, and by sedition will thy children fall, and thou shalt be rooted out for ever.
ባሕር፡፡ ወይቤሎ፡ ካም፡ አቡሁ፡ ወ*ኩሽ፡²⁰ ወመጽራይም፡ እንዊሁ፡²¹ እስመ፡ ኀደርከ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ እንተ፡ ኢኮነት፡ እንቲአከ፡ ወኢወፅአ፡ ለነ፡ በ*ዐፃ፡²² ኢትግበር፡ ከመዝ፡ *እስመ፡ ለ²³እመ፡ ከመዝ፡ ገበርከ፡ እንትሂ፡ ወደቂቅከሂ፡ ትወድቁ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድር፡ ወርጉማን፡ በ*ህከክ፡²⁴
31Dwell not in the dwelling of Shem; for to Shem and to his sons did it come by their lot.
በህከክ፡ ገዲርክሙ፡ ወበ*ህከክ፡ ይወድቁ፡ ይቅቅ ወ*ትሴር፡ በኀለዮሙ፡፡ ኢትኅድር፡
32Cursed art thou, and cursed shalt thou be beyond all the sons of Noah, by the curse by which we bound ourselves by an oath in the presence of the holy judge, and in the presence of Noah our father.'
ውስተ፡ ማኅደረ፡ ሴም፡ *እስመ፡ ለሴም፡ ወለውሉዱ፡ ወፀለ፡ በ*ኀጢአሙ፡፡ ርጉም፡ እንተ፡ ወርገመ፡ ትከውን፡ እምዝሎሙ ውሉድ፡ ኖኀ፡ በመርገም፡ እንተ፡ ተግራዕኒ፡ በ*መሕላ፡
33But he did not harken unto them, and dwelt in the land of Lebanon from Hamath to the entering of , Egypt, he and his sons until this day.
በቅድሜሆሙ፡ ለመኩንን፡ ቅዱስ፡ ወበቅድሜሆሙ፡ ኖኀ፡ አቡነ፡፡ ወእንዘ፡ ይምሕሉ፡ ወነደረ፡ ምድረ፡
34And for this reason that land is named Canaan.
ሊባኖስ፡ እም*እማት፡³² እለ፡ ምዕዋጼ፡ ግዓድ፡ ውእቱ፡ ወውእቱ፡ ለእለ፡ ዘቲ፡ ሀለዉ፡፡ ወለእንተዝ፡
35And Japheth and his sons went towards the sea and dwelt in the land of their portion, and Madai saw the land of the sea and it did not please him, and he begged a (portion) from Ham and Asshur and Arpachshad, his wife's brother, and he dwelt in the land of Media, near to his wife's brother until this day.
ተሰምያት፡ ይእቲ፡ ምድር፡³³ ከናእን፡፡ ወይፈትሎ፡ ወውሉዱ፡ ሎሙ፡ መንገለ፡ ባሕር፡ ወነደሩ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድረ፡³⁴ መክፈልትሙ፡ ወርእዮ፡ ማዳይ፡³⁵ ምድረ፡³⁶ ባሕር፡ ወ*አስተብቍዖ፡³⁷ እምንብ፡ ኤላም፡ ወአሱር፡ ወአርፋክስድ፡ እኃው፡ ብእሲቱ፡ ወነደረ፡ ውስተ፡ ምድረ፡ ማድቅን፡³⁸ ቀርብ፡³⁹ እኃው፡ ብእሲቱ፡ እስከ፡ ዘተ፡ ዕለት፡፡
36And he called his dwelling-place, and the dwelling-place of his sons, Media, after the name of their father Madai.
ወሰመየ፡ ምንባሪሁ፡ ወምንባረ፡ ውሉዱ፡ በስመ፡ ማዳይ፡ አቡሆሙ፡፡
