My LORD’s BibleTestament of Judah 2
1AND eighteen years my father abode in peace with his brother Esau, and his sons with us, after that we came from Mesopotamia, from Laban.
ὑμεῖς Ἐδέκα καὶ ὀκτὼϊ ἐποίησεν εἰρήνην πατήρ μουῦ μετὰ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ μεθ᾽ ἐτῶν ἐν ἡμῶν μετὰϑ τὸ ἐλθεῖν ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ ἘΜεσοποταμίας ἀπὸ Λαβάν
2And when eighteen years were fulfilled, in the fortieth year of my life, Esau, the brother of my father, came upon us with a mighty and strong people.
3And Jacob smote Esau with an arrow, and he was taken up wounded on Mount Seir, and as he went he died at Anoniram.
Καὶ πληρωθέντων τῶν δεκαοκτὼ ἐτῶν ἐπανῆλθεν δὃ ἡμῖν ἩΗσαῦ ὃ ἀδελφὸς τοῦ πατρός ἐν λαῷ βαρεῖ καὶ ἰσχυρῷ. ἔτει ζωῆς
4And we pursued after the sons of Esau.
Καὶ ἐν τόξῳ ᾿Ιακὼβ τὸν Ἡσαῦ καὶ ἤρθη ἔπεσεν ἐν τόξῳ ᾿Ιακώβ. Τνεκρὸς ἐν ὄρει Σιείρ ἡμεῖς κατεδιώξαμεν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἡσαῦ, ἦν δὲ τούτοις πόλις ὀχυρά, καὶ οὐκ ἠδυνήθημεν εἰσελθεῖν αὐτῇ περικαθίσαντες ἐπομένος ἐν λιορκοῦμεν αὐτήν
5Now they had a city with walls of iron and gates of brass; and we could not enter into it, and we encamped around, and besieged it.
6And when they opened not to us in twenty days, I set up a ladder in the sight of all and with my shield upon my head I went up, sustaining the assault of stones, upwards of three talents weight; and I slew four of their mighty men.
Καὶ ὡς οὐκ ἤνοιγον Ἑἡμῖν μετὰ παραθήσας Ἐτὴν ἀσπίδα ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς μουδ καὶδ ἀνῆλθον Ἐ ἀποδεχόμενος τοὺς λίθους καὶ ἀνεῖλον τέσσαρας πόλις καὶ σιδηροῦν καὶ χαλκοῖ δὲ. τὴν
7And Reuben and Gad slew six others.
ἃ λίθους ταῖν Τὸ ἐπί. ἡμεῖς δὲ ἐδιώξαμεν ἐπί ἐπεδιώξαμεν. αἱ ἡμεῖς ἐπί, πόλεις ὀχυραὶ καὶ τεῖχος σιδηροῦν τείχη αὐτῶν σιδηρᾶ καὶ πύλαι -ἰαὐτῶν Αἴ χαλκαῖ. ἀ ταύτης τεῖχος ὀχυρὸς καὶ πύλαι χαλκαῖ. ὃ καὶ περικαθίσαντες. παρακαθήσαντες τοίνυν δέ ἢ, δὶ τῶν δυναστῶν αὐτῶν ὁ ῬῬουβὶμ καὶ δ΄ Γὰδ ἑξῆς ἀνεῖλον ἑτέρους
8Then they asked from us terms of peace; and having taken counsel with our father, we received them as tributaries.
9And they gave us five hundred cors of wheat, five hundred baths of oil, five hundred measures of wine, until the famine, when we went down into Egypt.
Τότε οὖν αἰτοῦσιν ἡμῖν βάντες. τὰ πρὸς εἰρήνην καὶ γενομένης βουλῆς τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν ἐδεξάμεθα αὐτούς
10And after these things my son Er took to wife Tamar, from Mesopotamia, a daughter of Aram.
11Now Er was wicked, and he was in need concerning Tamar, because she was not of the land of Canaan.
Καὶ ἦσαν διδόντες Ἶ ἡμῖν ὑποφόπυροῦ κόρους πεὺτακοσίους καὶ δ᾽ ἐλαίου Τύυφης ρου. πεντακοσίους καὶδ οἴνου μέτρα πεντακόσια ἴξως τοῦ λιμοῦ δάε, ἃ ὅτεῦδ κατήλθομεν εἷς Αἴγυπτον. Ὁ το... ὦ σίους. βέθ. χίλια πεντακόσια ἕως ὅτε. δὲ ὁ υἱός μου ἄγεται τὴν Θαμὰρ ἐκ Μεσοποταμίας θυγατέρα γυναῖκα.
12And on the third night an angel of the Lord smote him.
Ἦν δὲ ὁ πονηρός, καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν αὐτὸν ἄγγελος Κυρίου.
13And he had not known her according to the evil craftiness of his mother, for he did not wish to have children by her.
14In the days of the wedding feast I gave Onan to her in marriage; and he also in wickedness knew her not, though he spent with her a year.
Καὶ ἔδωκα αὐτὴν Αὐνὰν τῷ δευτέρῳ μου υἱῷ, καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτὸν ἀνεῖλεν ριος. Καὶ αὐτὸς οὐκἔγνω αὐτὴν κατὰ πανουργίαν τὴν μητρὸς αὐτοῦ. δὶ
15And when I threatened him he went in unto her, but he spilled the seed on the ground, according to the command of his mother, and he also died through wickedness.
16And I wished to give Shelah also to her, but his mother did not permit it; for she wrought evil against Tamar, because she was not the daughters of Canaan, as she also herself was.
ἘἮν δὲ Ἦρϊ πονηρός, ἠπόρειϑ περὶ τῆς Θαμάρ, ὅτι οὐκ Ἐν ἐκ γῆς Χανάαν καὶ Ἐἄγγελος Κυρίου ἀνεῖλεν αὐτὸν τῇ τρίτῃ νυκτί, αὐτὸς οὐκ ἔγνω αὐτήν, κατὰ πανουργίαν τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ ὅ, οὐ γὰρ Ἐξχειν τέκαὐτῆς. καὶ ἠπόρειξδπερὶ τῆς Θαμάρ, δτιοὐκἦν ἐκ Χαναναίων. ἄγγελος Κτρίον ἀνεῖ. λεν αὐτὸν τῇ τέρᾳ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ θαλάμου αὐτοῦ ἘΓκαὶ ἤθελον ἐπιγαμβρεῦσαι αὐτὴν τῷ Αὐνάν καίγε οὗτος ἐν πονηρίᾳ οὐκ γνω Ἐποιήσας σὺν αὐτῇ ἐνιαυτόν ὃ, ταῖς ἡμέτοῦ θαλάμου Ἐξπεγάμβρευσα αὐὖτῇ τὸν Αὐνάν Καίγε οὗτος ἐν πονηρίᾳ οὐκ ἔγνω αὐτήν ποιήσας σὺν αὐτῇ ἐνιαυτόν.
17And I knew that the race of the Canaanites was wicked, but the impulse of youth blinded my mind.
Καὶ ὅτε ἠπείλησα αὐτῷ συνῆλθε μὲν αὐτῇ, Ἐδιέφθειρε δὲ τὸ σπέρμα ἐπὶ τὴν γῆνδ, κατὰ τὴν ἐντολὴν τῆς ἐν μέθῃ ἐν πονηρίᾳ
18And when I saw her pouring out wine, owing to the intoxication of wine I was deceived, and took her although my father had not counselled it.
19And while I was away she went and took for Shelah a wife from Canaan.
Ἤθελον δὲ τὸν Σηλὼμ δοῦναι αὐτῇ ἀλλ᾽ ἡ ἘμήἸσυνέ. αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἀφῆκενδ Γἐπονηρεύσατο γάρ ὅτιἿ οὐκ ἦν πὰ ἃ Ἐτῶν θυγατέρων τῶν Χαναναίων ὼς καὶ αὐτὴν.
20And when I knew what she had done, I cursed her in the anguish of my soul.
Κἀγὼ ὅτι πονηρὸν γένος ἦν ἐτῶν Χαναἔπεσα ναίων, ἀλλὰ τὸ διαβούλιον ὃ τῆς νεότητος ἐτύφλωσε πρὸς διάνοιάν
21And she also died through her wickedness together with her sons.
22And after these things, while Tamar was a widow, she heard after two years that I was going up, to shear my sheep, and adorned herself in bridal array, and sat in the city Enaim by the gate.
Καὶ ἰδὼν ὃ αὐτὴν οἰνοχοοῦσαν ἠπατήθην, βουλὰξ αὶ ἘΤἔλαβον αὐτὴν μὴ βουλευσαμένου τοῦ πατρός μου, ἙΑὐτὴ ἐπορεύθη καὶ Ἐἔλαβε τῷ Σηλὼμ γυναῖκα ἐκ ἔτῆς Χανάαν
23For it was a law of the Amorites, that she who was about to marry should sit in fornication seven days by the gate.
24Therefore being drunk with wine, I did not recognize her; and her beauty deceived me, through the fashion of her adorning.
Ἐπιγνοὺς β-ἃ γῆς. δὲ ἐγὼ ᾿δ ὃ ἐποίησε κατηρασάμην αὐτὴν ἐν ὀδύνῃ ψυχῆς μου. ἀπέθανεν ἐν τῇ πονηρίᾳ αὐτῆς τῶν τέκνων αὐτῆς αὐτῆς. λόγους ἔτη δύο ἀκούσασα ὅτι ἀνέρχομαιδ τοῦϑ κεῖραιἴ τὰ πρόβαταϑ, τούτους. κοσμηθεῖσα κόσμῳ νυμφικῷ, ἐκάθισεν Ἔνᾶν᾽ Ἔτῇ πόλει Ἔ πρὸς τὴν πύλην τοῦ πανδοχείου
25And I turned aside to her, and said: Let me go in unto thee.
Νόμος γὰρ τῶν ᾿Αμορραίων ὅ τὴν προκαθέζεσθαιἵ οὖσαν. ἂνὶδ πορνείᾳ
26And she said: What wilt thou give me? And I gave her my staff, and my girdle, and the diadem of my kingdom in pledge.
27And I went in unto her, and she conceived.
Μεθυσθεὶς οὖν ἐγὼ οἴνῳ οὐκ ἐπέγνων καὶ ἠπάτησέ τὸ κάλλος αὐτῆς διὰ ἑπτὰ τοῦ σχήματος τῆς κοσμήσεως.
28And not knowing what I had done, I wished to slay her; but she privily sent my pledges, and put me to shame.
29And when I called her, I heard also the secret words which I spoke when lying with her in my drunkenness; and I could not slay her, because it was from the Lord.
Καὶ ἐκκλίνας πρὸς ἡμέρας αὐτὴν εἶπον Εἰσέρχομαι πρός σε καὶ εἶπεν Καὶ πύλην. τί μοι δώσεις καὶ δέδωκα αὐτῇ τὴν ῥάβδον καὶ δακτύλιονδΑ καὶ τὸδα διάδημαδλ τῆς βασιλείας ἐν ὧν Χωζὴβ οὐκ ἐπέγνων αὐτὴν ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴνου. εἰσέλθω. β,Α, τὴν ζώνην. τρία ἔτη. ὅ ἢ τοϑβ ἔρχομα. δα. ἀδῇ τοδὰ κῆρα, πύλην ἐν μέσῃ τῇ πόλει. ἐκάθησεν πόλει, ὕδασι Χωζηβά Χωζιβά Χωζήβ ὃ, Χοζή Χουζζάβ
30For I said, Lest haply she did it in subtlety, having received the pledge from another woman.
᾿Αγνοῶν δὲ ἐγὼ ὃ Ἐἤθελον ἀνελεῖν αὐτήν
31But I came not again near her while I lived, because I had done this abomination in all Israel.
32Moreover, they who were in the city said there was no harlot in the gate, because she came from another place, and sat for a while in the gate.
ἔπεμψα πέμψασα δὲ ἐν κρυπτῷ τοὺς ἀρραβῶνας κατήσχυνέ αν ᾿ν
33And I thought that no one knew that I had gone in to her.
ἘΚαλέσας δὲ αὐτήνδ, ἤκουσα καὶ τοὺς ἐν μυστηρίῳ Αι τὸς λόγους Ἐσοὺς καθεύδων σὺν αὐτῇ ἐν τῇ μέθῃ μου ᾿ἐλάἀρραοὐκ ἠδυνήθην ἀνελεῖν αὐτήν, ὅτι παρὰ Κυρίου ἦν Μήποτε ἐν δολιότητι ἐποίησε παρὰ ἄλλης λαβοῦσα τὸν ἀρραβῶναδ,. ἘΡΑλλ᾽ οὐδὲ δῷ ἤγγισαδϑ αὐτῇ ἔτιδ ἕως ζωῆς ἐν κρυπτῷ τοὺς ἀρ. κατήσχ. με, καὶ πέμψασα ἔκρυψεν τοὺς καὶ κατῇσχ. με. οὐχ εὗρον αὐτήν, καὶ μεθ᾽ ἡμέρας τινὰς ἠκούσθη ὅτι Θαμὰρ ἐκπεπόρνευκε ἐκπεπόρευκε καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχει. ᾿Ακούσας δὲ ἐγὼ εἶπον ᾿Εξαγάγετε ἐξαγαγέτω αὐτὴν αὐτὴ καὶ καυθήτω. Ἢ δὲ ἀπέστειλε πρός με λέγουσα ἀνθρώπου οὕτινος εἴτινος ταῦτά εἰσιν, ἐγὼ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχω ἐπίγνωθι οὖν τίνος ὁ δακτύλιος καὶ ἡ ῥάβδος καὶ τὸ διάδημα τὸ ὃ. καὶ ἡ ῥ. ἢ. ᾿Επιγνοὺς δὲ ἐγὼ εἶπον Δεδικαίωται Θαμὰρ ἣ ἐγώ. οὐ προσεθέμην ἔτι τοῦ γοῦν δίδυμα, καὶ ὁ μὲν εἷς ἐξήνεγκε τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ, καὶ λαβοῦσα ἡ μαία ὁ δὲ ἐπισυνήγαγε τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ, καὶ εὐθὺς ἐξῆλθεν ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ. ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Φαρές καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο ἐξῆλθεν καὶ ὁ ἐπὶ τῆς χειρὸς αὐτοῦ ὅτι βδέλυγμα ἐποίησα ἐν παντὶ Ἰσραήλ δϑ. ἐν τῇ πόλει ἔλεγον, μὴ ἐν τῇ πύλῃ β-δᾶ τελισκομένην ὅτι ἐξ Ἐ ἄλλου χωρίουδ᾽ ἐλθοῦσα πρὸς βραχὺ ἀκούσατε ἐκάθισεν ἐν τῇ πύλῃ. ἐνόμιζον ὅτι οὐδεὶς ἔγνω ὅτι εἰσῆλθον αὐτήν.
34And after this we came into Egypt to Joseph, because of the famine.
35And I was forty and six years old, and seventy and three years lived I in Egypt.
Καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἃ, ἤλθομεν εἰς Αἴγυπτον ἘΓπρὸς Ἰωσὴφ᾽ διὰ τὸν λιμόν. πορεύδὲ ἐγὼ ἐτῶν τεσσαράκοντα καὶ ἐξ καὶ ἑβδομήσθε. ἐόντα καὶ τρία ἔτη ἐποίησα εἰς Αἴγυπτον Τῦ,.
