Testament of Levi 3

1AND when I was going to my father, I found a brazen shield; wherefore also the name of the mountain is Aspis, which is near Gebal, to the south of Abila.

Καὶ ὡς ἤρχόμην πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου εὗρον ἀσπίδα χαλκῆν διὸ καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ ὄρους Ἀσπίς ὅ ἐστιν ἐγγὺς Γεβάλ, ἐκ δεξιῶν Ἀβιμά. (10516)

2And I kept these words in my heart. And after this I counselled my father, and Reuben my brother, to bid the sons of Hamor not to be circumcised; for I was zealous because of the abomination which they had wrought on my sister.

Καὶ συνετήρουν τοὺς λόγους τούτους ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ μου. Μετὰ δὲ τοῦτο συνεβούλευσα τῷ πατρί μου καὶ τῷ Ῥουβὴμ ἵνα εἴπῃ τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἐμμὼρ τοῦ μὴ περιτμηθῆναι αὐτούς, ὅτι ἐζήλωσα διὰ τὸ βδέλυγμα, ὃ ἐποίησαν ἐπὶ τῇ ἀδελφῇ μου. (22701)

3And I slew Shechem first, and Simeon slew Hamor. And after this my brothers came and smote that city with the edge of the sword.

Κἀγὼ ἀνεῖλον τὸν Συχὲμ ἐν πρώτοις καὶ Συμεὼν τὸν Ἐμμώρ. Καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα ἐλθόντες οἱ ἀδελφοί μου ἐπάταξαν τὴν πόλιν ἐκείνην ἐν στόματι μαχαίρας. (13682)

4And my father heard these things and was wroth, and he was grieved in that they had received the circumcision, and after that had been put to death, and in his blessings he looked amiss upon us.

Καὶ ἤκουσεν ὁ πατήρ μου ταῦτα καὶ ὀργισθεὶς ἐλυπήθη ὅτι κατεδέξαντο τὴν περιτομὴν καὶ ἀπέθανον, καὶ ἐν ταῖς εὐλογίαις παρεῖδεν ἡμῖν. (8236)

5For we sinned because we had done this thing against his will, and he was sick on that day.

Διότι ἡμάρτομεν ἐπειδὴ παρὰ γνώμην αὐτοῦ τοῦτο πεποιήκαμεν, καίγε ἐμαλακίσθη ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ. (5911)

6But I saw that the sentence of God was for evil upon Shechem; for they sought to do to Sarah and Rebecca as they had done to Dinah our sister, but the Lord prevented them.

Ἀλλ᾽ ἐγὼ εἶδον ὅτι ἀπόφασις θεοῦ ἦν εἰς κακά διότι ἤθελον καὶ τὴν Σαρρὰ καὶ τὴν Ῥεβέκκα ποιῆσαι ὃν τρόπον ἐποίησαν τὴν Δείναν τὴν ἀδελφὴν ἡμῶν. Καὶ ὁ Κύριος ἐκώλυσεν αὐτούς. (12855)

7And they persecuted Abraham our father when he was a stranger, and they vexed his flocks when they were big with young; and Eblaen, who was born in his house, they most shamefully handled.

Καὶ ἐδίωξαν Ἀβραὰμ τὸν πατέρα ἡμῶν ξένον ὄντα καὶ κατεπόνησαν τὰ ποίμνια ὀγκούμενα ὄντα, καὶ Ἐβλαὴν τὸν οἰκογενῆ αὐτοῦ σφόδρα ἠκίσαντο. (9513)

8And thus they did to all strangers, taking away their wives by force, and they banished them.

Καίγε οὕτως ἐποίουν πᾶσι τοῖς ξένοις, ἐν δυναστείᾳ ἁρπάζοντες τὰς ξένας καὶ ἐξενηλάτουν αὐτάς. (8329)

9But the wrath of the Lord came upon them to the uttermost.

Ἔφθασε δὲ αὐτοὺς ἡ ὀργὴ τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς τέλος. (4363)

10And I said to my father Jacob: By thee will the Lord despoil the Canaanites, and will give their land to thee and to thy seed after thee.

Καὶ εἶπον ἐγὼ τῷ πατρί μου, Ἰακώβ, ὅτι ἐν σοὶ ἐξουδενώσει Κύριος τοὺς Χαναναίους καὶ δώσει τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν σοι καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου μετὰ σέ. (15853)

11For from this day forward shall Shechem be called a city of imbeciles; for as a man mocketh a fool, so did we mock them.

Ἔσται γὰρ ἀπὸ τῆς σήμερον ἡ Σύκημα λεγομένη πόλις ἀσυνέτων. ὅτι ὡσεί τις χλευάσει μωρὸν οὕτως ἐχλευάσαμεν αὐτούς, (13530)

12Because also they had wrought folly in Israel by defiling my sister. And we departed and came to Bethel.

Ὅτι καίγε ἀφροσύνην ἔπραξαν ἐν Ἰσραὴλ μιάναντες τὴν ἀδελφήν μου. Ἀπάραντες δὲ ἤλθομεν εἰς Βεθήλ. (5850)

13And there again I saw a vision as the former, after we had spent there seventy days.

Κἀκεῖ πάλιν εἶδον ὅραμα ὡς τὸ πρότερον μετὰ τὸ ποιῆσαι ἡμᾶς ἐκεῖ ἡμέρας ἑβδομήκοντα. (5031)

14And I saw seven men in white raiment saying unto me: Arise, put on the robe of the priesthood, and the crown of righteousness, and the breastplate of understanding, and the garment of truth, and the late of faith, and the turban of the head, and the ephod of prophecy.

Καὶ εἶδον ἑπτὰ ἄνδρας ἐν ἐσθῆτι λευκῇ λέγοντάς μοι· Ἀναστὰς ἔνδυσαι τὴν στολὴν τῆς ἱερατείας, καὶ τὸν στέφανον τῆς δικαιοσύνης, καὶ τὸ λόγιον τῆς συνέσεως καὶ τὸν ποδήρη τῆς ἀληθείας καὶ τὸ πέταλον τῆς πίστεως καὶ τὴν μίτραν τῆς κεφαλῆς καὶ τὸ ἐφοὺδ τῆς προφητείας. (22287)
