Testament of Levi 4

1AND now, my children, I command you: Fear the Lord your God with your whole heart, and walk in simplicity according to all His law.
Καὶ νῦν, τέκνα μου, ἐντέλλομαι ὑμῖν, φοβεῖσθε Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ὑμῶν ἐξ ὅλης τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν, καὶ πορεύεσθε ἐν ἁπλότητι κατὰ πάντα τὸν νόμον αὐτοῦ. (12644)
2And do ye also teach your children letters, that they may have understanding all their life, reading unceasingly the law of God.
Διδάξατε δὲ καὶ ὑμεῖς τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν γράμματα ἵνα ἔχωσι σύνεσιν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ ζωῇ αὐτῶν, ἀναγινώσκοντες ἀδιαλείπτως τὸν νόμον τοῦ Θεοῦ. (14297)
3For every one that knoweth the law of the Lord shall be honoured, and shall not be a stranger whithersoever he goeth.
Ὅτι πᾶς, ὃς γνώσεται νόμον Κυρίου, τιμηθήσεται, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ξένος, ὅπου ὑπάγει. (7012)
4Yea, many friends shall he gain more than his parents, and many men shall desire to serve him, and to hear the law from his mouth.
Καίγε πολλοὺς φίλους ὑπὲρ γονεῖς κτήσεται καὶ ἐπιθυμήσουσι πολλοὶ τῶν ἀνθρώπων δουλεῦσαι αὐτῷ καὶ ἀκοῦσαι νόμον ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ. (15470)
5Work righteousness, therefore, my children, upon the earth, that ye may have it as a treasure in heaven.
Ποιήσατε οὖν δικαιοσύνην, τέκνα μου, ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ἵνα εὕρητε ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς. (6132)
6And sow good things in your souls, that ye may find them in your life.
Καὶ σπείρατε ἐν ταῖς ψυχαῖς ὑμῶν ἀγαθὰ καὶ εὑρήσετε αὐτὰ ἐν τῇ ζωῇ ὑμῶν. (8738)
7But if ye sow evil things, ye shall reap every trouble and affliction.
Ἐὰν δὲ σπείρητε πονηρὰ πᾶσαν ταραχὴν καὶ θλίψιν θερίσετε. (3948)
8Get wisdom in the fear of God with diligence; for though there be a leading into captivity, and cities and lands be destroyed, and gold and silver and every possession perish, the wisdom of the wise nought can take away, save the blindness of ungodliness, and the callousness that comes of sin.
Σοφίαν κτήσασθε ἐν φόβῳ Θεοῦ ὅτι ἐὰν γένηται αἰχμαλωσία, καὶ ὁλοθρευθῶσι πόλεις καὶ χῶραι καὶ χρυσὸς καὶ ἄργυρος καὶ πᾶσα κτῆσις ἀπολεῖται τοῦ σοφοῦ τὴν σοφίαν οὐδεὶς δύναται ἀφελέσθαι εἰ μὴ τύφλωσις ἀσεβείας καὶ πώρωσις ἁμαρτίας. (24942)

9For if one keep oneself from these evil things, then even among his enemies shall wisdom be a glory to him, and in a strange country a fatherland, and in the midst of foes shall prove a friend.
Ἐὰν γάρ τις φυλάξῃ αὐτὸν ἐκ τῶν πονηρῶν τούτων ἔργων τότε γενήσεται αὐτῷ σοφία καὶ παρὰ τοῖς πολεμίοις λαμπρὰ καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς ἀλλοτρίας πατρίς, καὶ ἐν μέσῳ ἐχθρῶν εὑρηθήσεται φίλος. (19121)
10Whosoever teaches noble things and does them, shall be enthroned with kings, as was also Joseph my brother.
Πᾶς ὃς ἂν διδάσκει καλὰ καὶ πράττει σύνθρονος ἔσται βασιλέων, ὥσπερ καὶ Ἰωσὴφ ὁ ἀδελφός μου. (8622)
11Therefore, my children, I have learnt that at the end of the ages ye will transgress against the Lord, stretching out hands to wickedness against Him; and to all the Gentiles shall ye become a scorn.
Ἐγὼ οὖν, τέκνα μου, ἔγνων ὅτι ἐπὶ τὰ τέλη τῶν αἰώνων ἀσεβήσετε ἐπὶ Κυρίου, χεῖρας ἐπιβάλλοντες ἐν κακίᾳ ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔθνεσιν γενήσεσθε χλευασμός. (14952)
12For our father Israel is pure from the transgressions of the chief priests [who shall lay their hands upon the Saviour of the world].
Καὶ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἡμῶν Ἰσραὴλ καθαρός ἐστιν ἀπὸ τῆς ἀσεβείας τῶν ἀρχιερέων οἵτινες ἐπιβαλοῦσι τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὸν σωτῆρα τοῦ κόσμου. (14726)

13For as the heaven is purer in the Lord's sight than the earth, so also be ye, the lights of Israel, purer than all the Gentiles.
Καθαρὸς ὁ οὐρανὸς ὑπὲρ τὴν γῆν καὶ ὑμεῖς οἱ φωστῆρες τοῦ Ἰσραήλ, ὡς ὁ ἥλιος καὶ ἡ σελήνη. (8092)
14But if ye be darkened through transgressions, what, therefore, will all the Gentiles do living in blindness?
Καὶ ἐὰν ὑμεῖς σκοτισθῆτε ἐν ἀσεβείᾳ, τί λοιπὸν τὰ ἔθνη ποιήσουσι ἐν τυφλώσει διάγοντες; (7127)
15Yea, ye shall bring a curse upon our race, because the light of the law which was given for to lighten every man this ye desire to destroy by teaching commandments contrary to the ordinances of God.
καὶ ἐπάξετε κατάραν ἐπὶ τὸ γένος ἡμῶν, ὑπὲρ οὖν τὸ φῶς τοῦ νόμου τὸ δοθὲν εἰς φωτισμὸν παντὸς ἀνθρώπου, τοῦτον θέλ(ήσ)ετε ἀνελεῖν, ἐναντίας ἐντολὰς διδάσκοντες τοῖς τοῦ θεοῦ δικαιώμασιν. (18950)
16The offerings of the Lord ye shall rob, and from His portion shall ye steal choice portions, eating them contemptuously with harlots.
Τὰς προσφορὰς Κυρίου ληστεύσετε, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν μερίδων αὐτοῦ κλέψετε ἐκλεκτά, ἐσθίοντες ἐν καταφρονήσει μετὰ πορνῶν. (12898)
17And out of covetousness ye shall teach the commandments of the Lord, wedded women shall ye pollute, and the virgins of Jerusalem shall ye defile; and with harlots and adulteresses shall ye be joined, and the daughters of the Gentiles shall ye take to wife, purifying them with an unlawful purification; and your union shall be like unto Sodom and Gomorrah,
Καὶ ἐν πλεονεξίᾳ τὰς ἐντολὰς κυρίου διδάξετε, τὰς μὲν ὑπάνδρους βεβηλώσετε καὶ πόρναις καὶ μοιχαλίσιν συναφθήσεσθε, θυγατέρας δὲ ἐθνῶν λήψεσθε εἰς γυναῖκας, καὶ γενήσεται ἡ μῖξις ὑμῶν ὡς Σόδομα καὶ Γόμορρα. (17212)
18And ye shall be puffed up because of your priesthood, lifting yourselves up against men, and not only so, but also against the commands of God.
Καὶ φυσιωθήσεσθε ἐπὶ τῇ ἱερωσύνῃ ὑμῶν κατὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐπαιρόμενοι, οὐ μόνον δὲ τοῦτο ἀλλὰ καὶ κατὰ τῶν ἐντολῶν τοῦ Θεοῦ. (15469)
19For ye shall contemn the holy things with jests and laughter.
Καταφρονήσετε γὰρ τὰ ἅγια χλευάζοντες καὶ γελοιάζοντες. (4430)
20Therefore the temple, which the Lord shall choose, shall be laid waste through your uncleanness, and ye shall be captives throughout all nations.
Διὰ τοῦτο ὁ ναός, ὃν ἐκλέξεται κύριος, ἔρημος ἔσται ἐν τῇ ἀκαθαρσίᾳ ὑμῶν, καὶ ὑμεῖς αἰχμάλωτοι ἔσεσθε εἰς πάντα τὰ ἔθνη. (9829)
21And ye shall be an abomination unto them, and ye shall receive reproach and everlasting shame from the righteous judgement of God.
Καὶ ἔσεσθε βδέλυγμα αὐτοῖς, καὶ λήψεσθε ὄνειδος καὶ αἰσχύνην αἰώνιον παρὰ τῆς δικαιοκρισίας τοῦ Θεοῦ. (8259)
22And all who hate you shall rejoice at your destruction.
Καὶ πάντες οἱ μισοῦντες ὑμᾶς χαρήσονται ἐπὶ τῇ ἀπωλείᾳ ὑμῶν. (6623)
23And if you were not to receive mercy through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, our fathers, not one of our seed should be left upon the earth.
Καὶ εἰ μὴ δι᾽ Ἀβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακὼβ τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν ἔλεος λήψεσθε, εἰς ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος ὑμῶν οὐ μὴ καταλειφθῇ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. (11543)
24And now I have learnt that for seventy weeks ye shall go astray, and profane the priesthood, and pollute the sacrifices.
Καὶ νῦν ἐγὼ ἔγνωκα ὅτι ἑβδομήκοντα ἑβδομάδας πλανηθήσεσθε, καὶ τὴν ἱερωσύνην βεβηλώσετε καὶ τὰ θυσιαστήρια μιανεῖτε. (9461)
25And ye shall make void the law, and set at nought the words of the prophets by evil perverseness.
Καὶ τὸν νόμον ἀθετήσετε καὶ λόγους προφητῶν ἐξουδενώσετε ἐν διαστροφῇ κακῇ· (7477)
26And ye shall persecute righteous men, and hate the godly; the words of the faithful shall ye abhor.
διώξετε δὲ ἄνδρας δικαίους, καὶ εὐσεβεῖς μισήσετε, ἀληθινῶν λόγους βδελύξεσθε. (6341)
27And a man who reneweth the law in the power of the Most High, ye shall call a deceiver; and at last ye shall rush upon him to slay him, not knowing his dignity, taking innocent blood through wickedness upon your heads.
Καὶ ἄνδρα καινοποιοῦντα νόμον ἐν δυνάμει ὑψίστου πλάνον προσαγορεύσετε, καὶ τέλος ὁρμήσετε τοῦ ἀποκτεῖναι αὐτόν, οὐκ εἰδότες αὐτοῦ τὸ ἀνάστημα, τὸ ἀθῶον αἷμα ἐν κακίᾳ ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς ὑμῶν ἀναδεχόμενοι. (17814)
28And your holy places shall be laid waste even to the ground because of him.
Λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι δι᾽ αὐτὸν ἔσονται τὰ ἅγια ὑμῶν ἔρημα ἕως ἐδάφους. (7143)
29And ye shall have no place that is clean; but ye shall be among the Gentiles a curse and a dispersion until He shall again visit you, and in pity shall receive you through faith and water.
Καὶ τόπος ὑμῖν καθαρὸς οὐκ ἔσται, ἀλλ᾽ ἔσεσθε ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εἰς κατάραν καὶ εἰς διασκορπισμόν, ἕως αὐτὸς πάλιν ἐπισκέψηται καὶ οἰκτειρήσῃ καὶ προσδέξηται ὑμᾶς. (11654)
