Babylonian Talmud Berakhot

Babylonian Talmud Berakhot: the Babylonian Gemara on Mishnah Berakhot ("Blessings"), in the order Zera'im (Seeds). The reciting of the Shema, the daily Amidah prayer, and the blessings said over food and on other occasions; the one tractate of this order that is not about farming. The Babylonian Talmud (Talmud Bavli) was edited in the academies of Babylonia until about AD 500 or later and became the authoritative Talmud of Jewish law; it quotes each passage of the Mishnah (MISHNAH) and then discusses it (GEMARA), and is cited by folio, as on the page headings here (2a, 2b). It is rabbinic law and teaching, not scripture. English by A. Cohen (Cambridge University Press, 1921); Hebrew and Aramaic from Wikisource's Vilna text.
